Picture of the week- 19th February

Rail action is often seems hard to come by at this time of year. One rail activity however that does increase in the winter is that of engineering works- lower demand for leisure travel at weekends during the colder months making it slightly less disruptive to passengers.
Engineering trains often bring loco hauled trains to locations that rarely see them- and there can be all sorts of traction up for grabs.
On 14th Jan 2012, 66847 is seen at Hersham on the South West Mainline about to enter an engineering possession. Loco hauled trains here are rare and the appearance of this Colas Rail loco made the scene even more exceptional.
