I've never taken the Cherbourg route to France before, another one that's on my to do list preferably before the corails go, but I'm due another trip to Paris through Calais et Boulogne-sur-Mer soon for the BB 67400's as I believe they are on borrowed time. You did well getting that BB 17000 in, there certainly cant be many of those left now, I've seen the odd one on shunt release duties at Paris Est but those will be less so now of course with the end of loco hauled operations on ligne 4 as of last week. That must only leave the peak hour BB 67400 & RIO/RIB Transilien trains to/from La La Ferté-Milon and the BB 15000 & Corail TER Vallée de la Marne turns which I believe you got bowled out by carts on photographing recently! One wonders just how long these have left...

Glad you enjoyed Frankfurt und Köln -(a beautiful city that's often underrated).

Besides France, België is another favourite of mine for bashing trips closer to home. Most of the older locos are gone now as you know but I still find the old AM64 units and Eurofima cars fun to ride in. You mentioned trouble with the Dutch and French placenames on the rail planner app -(a wonderful resource), language is a highly divisive issue in Belgium! I don't know if you are aware of www.beluxtrains.net ? I use this whenever I go to Belgium. Its very very useful, providing diagrams for everything in Belgium and Luxembourg, so you can get your haulages in.

Nice to end the trip with a classic TMST. I have many happy memories traveling to/from the continent on these trains over the years. Its a real pity they are being scrapped at such a young age but that is another highly controversial subject!

Cheers,
Kris.Le Vaubanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17805480466928685920noreply@blogger.com
